Phân biệt TRIP, JOURNEY và TRAVEL

Khi nói đến các chuyến đi, các từ như TRIP, JOURNEY, TRAVEL hẳn không ít lần khiến các bạn lúng túng trong việc lựa chọn để sử dụng. I/ PHÂN BIỆT VÀ CÁCH DÙNG

1. TRAVEL

TRAVEL là danh từ chung nhất chỉ sự di chuyển từ nơi này sang nơi khác, và thường chỉ các chuyến đi dài (to make a journey, usually over a long distance).

Khi ở dạng số nhiều, TRAVELS chỉ các chuyến du lịch, công tác nước ngoài.

Các cụm từ thường gặp (collocation): sea/ rail/ air travel, long-distance travel, space/ time travel, etc.

Ví dụ:

We share a love of literature, food and travel.
Perhaps you’ll write a book about your travels.
Travel will acquaint us with new customs.

2. JOURNEY

JOURNEY là danh từ để chỉ các chuyến đi đơn lẻ, thường là đi du lịch. Khi dùng từ này, ta nhấn mạnh việc di chuyển từ nơi này đến nơi khác bằng một phương tiện nào đó.

Khác với JOURNEY, TRIP có thể là tổng hợp của 2 chuyến JOURNEYS trở lên. (An act of travelling from one place to another, especially in avehicle:.)

Các cụm từ thường gặp (collocation): car/ train journey, daily journey, spiritual journey, etc.

Ví dụ:

John was a tired man when he got back from the long journey.
The book describes a spiritual journey from despair to happiness.
Life is a wonderful journey. Make it your journey and not someone else’s.

CẤU TRÚC

• Go on a journey

Ví dụ:

This inspires him to go on a journey across all the quarters to find out about his past.
He had to go on a journey, and while he was gone, Penta gave birth to a baby.

• Set out on a journey: khởi hành một chuyến đi

Ví dụ:

If they did set out on a journey, it was usually on business or a pilgrimage or to go to war.
At the invitation of US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi has set out on a journey to the United States.

3. TRIP

TRIP là danh từ dùng để chỉ các chuyến du lịch hoặc công cán ngắn ngày, ta đi đến một địa điểm và sẽ trở về sau vài ngày. ( a journey in which you go somewhere, usually for a short time, and come back again).

Các cụm từ thường gặp (collocation): day/ weekend trip, round/ return trip, business/ pleasure/ fishing/ shopping/ sightseeing trip, etc.

Ví dụ:

Long trailing flexes are a serious trip hazard.
The next stage of the trip is about one hundred miles.
The trip has been extended to include a few other events.

CẤU TRÚC:

Ví dụ:

I was thinking we could go on a shopping trip to New York this weekend.
We’re going on a trip to Norway this summer.
Do you want to go on the school trip to France this year?

• Be (away) on a business trip: đi công tác xa

Ví dụ:

She’s not here bacause she’s away on a business trip.
Mark was sent to the Far East on a business trip.
She‘s away on a business trip and won’t be back until next week.
